| Question: Becoming an actor based in Asia? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 07:13 PM PST I think Daniel Henney did that. It's possible. Japanese singer Ken Hirai looks mixed, although he is not. Keanu Reeves made a couple movies in Asia, and he is only like 1/4 Asian. |
| Posted: 14 Feb 2016 07:02 PM PST Before I got into high school, there was no where I could go for acting classes, so what I did was watch a bunch of movies and look up my favorite scenes on YouTube. Print out the dialogue for that scene and rehearse it on your own time as if you're about to audition for a movie or something. Practice different emotions, reactions, blocking, voices, etc. Once I got into high school and I could take drama, it was just easy marks for me because I've been doing it for so long on my own time without a teacher. Even if you're not in school, it's fun to do, so why not?

| Question: How to get into acting? Posted: 14 Feb 2016 05:24 PM PST Check for some beginning acting classes - maybe something at the community college or something offered through a local theater. Community theaters often have open auditions so you can try that as well. Those things might help you get a better idea of what is involved in the work of acting to see if you like it and if you're any good at it. If you find it's something you really enjoy you can start saving up money for more advanced training if you want. Keep auditioning for community theater productions and you can try contacting local film schools and ask how they find actors for student films and check those sources. Maybe you'll make a group of friends and work on your own projects. With technology as it is it's easy to create your own show or web series just for fun. Those types of things can be a fun and creative outlet. More professional acting is a business. There are not a bunch of open auditions to go to. For most professional work you have to be invited to audition, usually through an agent. And you can't just hire an agent, it's more like they choose you. We're talking a huge investment of time, effort and money. And there are a lot of scams and rip offs out there. So if you later think this is something you want, you have to research and understand how the business end of things work. |
