| Question: Future of ancestrydna circle? Posted: 24 Jul 2016 04:03 PM PDT Ok first I m going to say I have 0 circles in my tree so I m not exactly sure how they work. Ok so DNA circles are used to recreated genomes of dead ancestors past a certain generation, but what about closer ancestors. All of my grandparents are deceased and died all before I was born so I never got a chance to take any of there DNA so why couldn t DNA circles recreate one of them based on 3 or more of their kids. I understand it people would probably abuse it by not testing living grandparents and possibly alive great grandparents (if you are one of the few luck to have those) but is it a realistic possibility that ancestry or any of the DNA testing companies would let you unlock the results of a deceased ancestor with enough matches and the price of a normal kit? Am I crazy? Also I think gedmatch does something like this with Lazarus, but you can t really compare it to ancestrydna which has the largest database by far and you wouldn t even be able to upload it to Ftdna Maybe if DNA circles ever comes out of beta we will see cooler features such as this, or maybe nothing new at all. |
| Question: Is the Transom family descended from aristocracy? Posted: 24 Jul 2016 03:33 PM PDT Probably. Some experts estimate that 80 percent of England's present population descends from Edward III. Here are the collections on familysearch.org in the BMD category that have 10 or more records: England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 200 results You'll notice an Englishness about them. I couldn't find a surname meaning for it. With many surnames, like "Pack" and "Carpenter" and "Johnson", there are hundreds of families, not just 1. There were just 1,009 records for "Transom" on familysearch.org, so there may be just one Transom family. By comparison, they have over 150,000 for "Pack", which I know from personal experience is uncommon, and over 28,000,000 for "Smith". |
