Posted: 23 Jul 2016 03:13 PM PDT I earned my Theatre Generalist degree in 1994. First two years after graduating, I was a scene shop intern and a production assistant for two different professional theatre companies. Both were very low paying jobs that did not help pay my bills. By the third year, I was deep in debt. I decided to get a food-service job that paid better and did not do any theatre work for two years until I volunteered for a few local college theatre productions on my free time starting in 1997 doing set construction. Doing this theatre side-work went on until 2000 when my food-service job hours increased. Since 2011, I tried returning to any type of theatre work, but my participation was few and far between... most recently I volunteered with set-building for a local community theatre group or simply do ushering when those job opportunities show up. Of course, they are all unpaid. I am still working in food-service to this day. I never said I enjoyed that job, though it did get me out of the red long ago. I still have a heart for theatre but at a loss on how to get my foot back in that door again. But has that door already closed on me? I doubt that any professional company would hire me now given my spotty history. Is my theatre career now relegated to just working for places that never turn down free help?
Posted: 23 Jul 2016 11:44 AM PDT Actually, that should be true of all professions. Disrespecting anyone is obviously wrong, ignorant and potentially damaging. But specifically in the world of acting, dancing and singing, there are a much higher proportion of gay people. They just seem to be more creative and artistic than the general population. They're also almost all very tolerant, accepting, broad-minded and intelligent. If you went to any acting school, class, audition or theatre, to a TV or movie set or anywhere like that, and made prejudiced and insulting comments about the LGBT community, you wouldn't last five minutes. Your teacher knows what he's talking about!

Question: Career in modelling and acting on INDIAN television only......? Posted: 23 Jul 2016 02:25 AM PDT Acting has absolutely nothing to do with modelling. Acting is all about getting training and experience, having real talent and entertaining people. Modelling is the most pointless job on the planet and requires no talent at all. If you want to be an actor, get into a good acting school.
