Question: Best Legit website for ancestor records? Posted: 01 Jan 2016 02:32 PM PST There is no best" most "records" are not online from any country in the World and with countries like Russia their records were not even open to view in the Archives until 1990, let alone have them scanned or transcribed for online https://lostrussianfamily.wordpress.com/...
Question: Can i get a free online birth record for scott county indiana? Posted: 01 Jan 2016 11:30 AM PST I suspect you want a current one - for yourself or your child. If so, no. That would make it too easy to steal someone's identity, since birth date, birth place and mother's maiden name are all common security questions. If you meant for someone born before World War II, familysearch.org (free) has a collection, "Indiana Births and Christenings, 1773-1933"; it has just over 500 records for people born in Scott County.
Question: Need help knowing my true background? Posted: 01 Jan 2016 07:37 AM PST "My mom is a huge genealogy guru, but she's never been able to find proof" So if that is true, you do not have native American ancestors and if you do not believe the facts in historic records then that is your issue, what you would "like" to be true and what is factually true are complete opposites. "IF" the family tale your grandfather told was true then he would have been registered at birth as Native American, as would his children have been too, and of course you as well, your parent and he was not that is fact... his story is a fairy tale and proved by your mother to be a fairy tale as census say "white" Your grandfather is like any other grandparent, they tell stories, often because they were told the same stories when they were young he may have really believed he was told the truth, he simply wasn't told the truth and so repeated a false story
Question: Is this enough documentation? Posted: 31 Dec 2015 11:05 PM PST Do you have the original hand written service record, along with his birth or baptism record, marriage record original , death cert/burial record, any census records where his status is recorded, then all the same documentation for each generation back to you all original documentation, showing the line....that is "enough" You have lots of research to do and real records to find before you get to the point of proof
