Why in the world would it be illegal to make strong ropes today? It was used ages ago in wars in the middle east for weapons.

Some legal decisions just make no sense sometimes.

For those not familiar with Kievan Rus, it was the foundation of modern day Ukraine and a part of Russia as well. (In fact, Ukraine s capitol city is Kiev.) At it s height, it could almost rival the Roman empire in size.

My question, to be more specific is- who made up Kievan Rus- for example, the Kozak camp/nation on the Dnipro, the Kings of Kiev/Halychyna/other regions, etc.
And also who were their enemies, eg. the Tartars, the Mongols, and Poland. Any help is appreciated!
