| Question: Calculating my ethnicity percentages? Posted: 08 Jul 2014 02:11 PM PDT Those DNA test are purely entertainment produces so mean nothing at all and no one is a bit, piece, fraction or percentage of their ancestors ethnicity, as ethnicity means, an individuals customs, cultures, affiliations and associations in the country they live in and in their family home, such as the food they eat the language they speak, it doesn't mean anything about skin colour Your parents wasted their money, if they took another they would get different "results" which proves it means nothing |

In extreme case the other way - he wise, warm, witty and a real gentleman - he'll go on being "Uncle Ralph" even if you die or divorce, and invited to the family gatherings as regular as clockwork. |
| Posted: 08 Jul 2014 09:31 AM PDT ..and THAT INFO is from where? Are these family stories you have been told? As it sounds like they are Genealogy is about researching your ancestors written records that they generated during their lifetime and that are kept that includes civil and parish records, records kept in Archives and records office , maybe newspapers, as far as name changes, could have been done if it was done without any written record which informs you of that information, could be on a naturalisation record......... 95% of records are NOT online on ANY website regardless of if you pay or not, so it online isn't the best place to look and Irish records are very limited online So go back to what and who you can prove and who you do know information about, that is who you have a real record about and then add details of them, that way you are asking for information about an individual, not generalistic information and people can then help you find connecting records which prove the next generation |
| Question: Can anyone tell my ancestry with this information? Posted: 08 Jul 2014 08:03 AM PDT Can anyone tell my ancestry with this information? I am a light olive color indian, dark brown eyes, straight black hair, caucasian bone structure, 6 feet tall... and live in North India. Recently, I had my self get an DNA ancestry test and to my amazement, it says I have somewhat Germanic ancestry, along with a little Iranian/middle Eastern and ofcourse major part of Indian ancestry. Althought the test was basic. And is not much accurately revealing. But to my surprise, I dont have anyone in my near or far family married to any german or iranian or middle Eastern person. Atleast not in my parents or grand parents knowledge. |
