| Question: Poem suggestions for someone who doesn't like poetry? Posted: 22 Jul 2014 05:04 PM PDT So I'm a huge fan of poetry, my boyfriend isn't, and I firmly believe that there is a piece of poetry out there that suits everyone's personality and taste in literature. I suggested a few things which he didn't like, they included romance, and descriptions of scenery, both modern and ancient, I even recommended The Raven hoping he'd like that musical gothic vibe but he didn't get it, and I felt it was gonna be too annoying if I tried to explain it to him I really want to give him something that will grab him at the first read, I think his issue with poetry being that it's too "twee", so maybe a poem that hits hard and not something that is too beautiful and twee? something painful? political? social? saddening? disturbing? realistic? something about insecurities? grief? a gripping story told in verse? something that isn't awfully long and still not very difficult to understand because for someone who isn't a fan of poetry they really wouldn't both rereading the thing if they don't get it, like a poetry fan would thanks! welcoming any suggestions!! |
| Question: A poem about destiny? Posted: 22 Jul 2014 03:56 PM PDT I wrote a poem about destiny. I'd like to hear your advice, comments, corrections. I'm not a fluent english speaker. I just wrote what i feel. Thanks Your Destiny Out of nowhere he'll come, He'll open up your eyes, Whether it rains or shines, He 'll sweep you off your feet, For no reason you'll smile At the right time he'll come, |

Want to know what some of the problems with it are? It implies that Indians only live in the forest, as hunters, for one thing. Our people were actually mostly farmers. So the "golden fields of corn" were really OURS. ( we taught agriculture to Europeans, and gave them crops like corn, which WE developed.) Second, it compares Indians to animals. |
| Question: About 17th century poetry? Posted: 22 Jul 2014 03:30 PM PDT about 17th century poetry? Consider some of the political, religious, and cultural conflicts in the first half of the 17th century and speculate on how these conditions might have affected the poetry of this time period? |
