Question: Who else is sickened by american capitalism?

Who else is sickened by american capitalism?

Or more like "corporatism".
Everything is so phony. Your food is fake, the smiles at the stores are fake, the celebrity lives we chase after are fake. The American dream is dead. People don't care about people anymore. Advertisements get on my nerves. They never stop.
The advertising industry has to be run by the ex cia agents or something because are just too damn good a spreading lying propaganda and deceiving. They are so good at convincing you they care about you, that you need that product, that you're ugly, that you're life sucks that you're inferior.
We've been turned into anti-social, friendless, cell phone addicted, consuming slaves.Thank you all mighty dollar, you've ruined a whole country.

Question: Atheists, what do you attribute the concepts of Just and merciful to?

-If one argues, as some deeply religious individuals do, that without God there can be no ultimate right and wrong - namely that God determines for us what is right and wrong - one can then ask the question: What is God decreed that rape and murder were morally acceptable ? Would that make them so ?

While some might answer yes, I think most believers would say no, God would not make such a decree. But why not ? Presumably because God would have some *reason* for not making such a decree. Again, presumably this is because *reason* suggests that rape and murder are not morally acceptable. But if God would have to appeal to *reason*, then why not eliminate the middleman entirely ?- Lawrence Krauss, A Universe From Nothing, Pgs 171-172.

Question: What is your name?

Consult my avatar, that about answers it (version2b aside, surname shan't disclose though is of Germanic origin). I'm Patrick, always am me, alphabet notwithstanding, I remain me by any other identifying conventions, my name is a sort of title, my essence transcendent.

Question: Why do people think maturing mentally is a bad thing?

Posted: 09 Jul 2014 08:02 AM PDT

There's a fear of losing the ability to be spontaneous, have fun, do crazy stuff, 'live your life', etc., if they get burdened down with acting 'mature' and having to worry about the long-term consequences of their actions.

That is all fine and good until they are 30+ still living at home, working at a fast food job (if at all), and reliving the 'glory days' of their youth - and in most cases, not actually being spontaneous, having fun, or 'living life' after all.

Like most things - you have to strike a balance.
