Arts & Humanities: Theater & Acting: “Question: How to do well in a beginning acting course?” plus 4 more

Question: How to do well in a beginning acting course?

Listen to what you're told, observe the other students and evaluate whether their acting is convincing, weak or overacted. Always do your best, never mess around, and don't hold back for fear of making a fool of yourself! Risking looking a complete idiot is something that all actors have to do all the time!

And most importantly - enjoy yourself.

Have fun!

Question: Is my voice good enough for show choir?

Posted: 11 Jul 2014 09:50 PM PDT

I'm 16, and I'm thinking about joining show choir next year. The thing is though, I'm not sure if my voice is good enough, so I made a little video of myself singing. Don't mind the quality, I made it in about 5 minutes. Be honest about what you think. Be harsh if you have to, I need to know if I have what it takes for show choir, or at least chorus. Thanks!

Question: 2 MINUTE AUDITION?

Posted: 11 Jul 2014 09:38 PM PDT

I'm a 13 year old black female.

I am auditioning for "A Little Princess"

I will need about a 2 minute audition

I need about a 1 minute contemporary monologue and a 1 minute song.

I am a Tenor

Thanks!

Question: Script Question?

I think it would depend on where the water is. I don't think falling in water will change whether a character is in terms of INT and EXT, unless they also change location (i.e. are in a cave, and swim underwater to the outside, going from INT cave to EXT cave.)

Question: What are the positive effects of learning how to play a musical instrument?

Posted: 11 Jul 2014 08:05 PM PDT

I play the piano and sing and am learning guitar.

Positives outweigh the negatives like 10000000%

It helps with memorization if you memorize lyrics or notes, it's creative and gets your brain thinking, and when you get pretty good, and you actually start to look forward to practicing, it's fun to experiment with what you can and can't do yet and what you need to fix.

My chorus teacher always said musicians are doctors. We see a sing, see a problem, diagnose, and fix it.

The only negative I can think of is like 2 months ago I thought I had carpal tunnel disease because of piano cause my wrists hurt but it turned out I just wasn't playing in correct form and being lazy.

And I cut my finger on a guitar string once.

You also get a sore throat from singing if you don't drink a lot of water during long practices.
