| Question: Can you fix dried up art pens? Posted: 24 Oct 2015 09:17 AM PDT Color pencil residu is wax, which is why the flow stops on the pens. You need to clean it off after every few lines drawn over the color pencil. Dried out art pens..........much harder. You can try soaking the tips in 1/4" of water in a container, or putting the tip of the pen into wet cotton to try to draw the inks back to the surface but if that doesn't work you'll need to just replace your pens. If any are ballpoint you can TRY 1 second in an open flame to liquefy the ink around the ball but not burn the pen casing. It will not work with rollerball art pens though. |
| Question: What do you if you need to draw something gross? Posted: 24 Oct 2015 08:36 AM PDT I am an aspiring illustrator and it is my goal to never have a category of things that I can t/won t draw. For the most part, I updhold this. Except today I met my nemesis. I just started into drawing insects. I need to do this, of course, for professional and personal reasons. There is one big problem though.... I can t even make it through one single bug without getting seriously creeped out and disgusted. Not even a common yellow jacket can I draw without the heebeejeebes setting in as soon as I draw one creepy little leg. Something about drawing a bug is specific realistic detail and in perspective so that it looks like it s crawling inside the page....is really doing my head in. It s just so gross to me. I just wanna throw up in my mouth a little bit. So my question is this: HOW can I get around this repulsion? I can t just now draw them. How will I ever make it to doing my own creature design if I can t stomach drawing bugs when every SciFi/Horror creature is based on bugs? I m screwed. It s not like I can draw them without looking at them. There are NO good options here. |
