Question: Is it common to pay a 'pointe shoe fitting fee' at a dance wear store? Posted: 18 Sep 2015 10:41 AM PDT I'm located in Ontario Canada. I needed to buy my daughter a pair of pointe shoes at a local store that my daughter's ballet teacher recommended. The store charged $25 (+HST) for a 'shoe fitting'. Although I did know they would charge this fee, I thought it's too much. Is it common in the industry? *I posted the similar question, and I received a very useful information.
Question: Want to become a professional dancer, can't afford Dance College? Posted: 18 Sep 2015 08:23 AM PDT Hi, I am 18 and was offered places at Dance Colleges but couldn't afford to go. My Mum and I just do not have enough money and as they were foundation courses there was no funding available (we wrote to many charities/organizations for help but couldn't get enough). I've nearly completed my ISTD qualifications and have 7 years experience of dance, also having studied BTECs in Dance. My dance teachers believe I am definitely a strong enough dancer to get into the industry professionally eventually, but I'd like some advice from dancers/performers who have maybe been in a similar situation, who can help me with how I can break into the industry without full-time training. Thank you :)

Question: Is there any way to teach yourself to dance? Posted: 17 Sep 2015 07:30 PM PDT If you took classes, you wouldn't be as shy anymore. That's part of a dancing class or any class. It's a team effort. It helps give you confidence and learn about working with others. There isn't time to be shy. If you want to teach yourself to dance, put on music and move to it. That's it. But I suggest you take classes if you really want to learn a dance style or something like that. You're never too old for that.
