| Question: Need advice on this feature screenplay? Posted: 18 Sep 2015 06:33 PM PDT A few weeks ago, I decided to reach out to a current TV actor's manager in regards to a screenplay of mine that recently made quarter-finals and currently awaiting results from other grants and contests. The manager got back to me (and cc all agents of actor) and said that they basically need to see what the actor/her client will get out of it (money) before even looking at it. I don't necessarily see it as a "bad thing" since I find no response messages as more of a "not interested" response. I have been sending the script to agents and managers. One manager wanted to meet up again (so I'm going to pitch it to him and tell him a "plan" I have then); this manager seemed more interested in seeing films and one is out and the other is in post (out next week) and one is pre-production. I did, however, see a few weeks ago: this same actor promoted a play he was producing. I checked it out and found an email for the lead actor/his dad... So I'm curious if it looks bad to reach out to his dad but, more from a "you looking for more material to produce?" I checked out the dad's background and he has his own production company (small and only two projects there). So after some thinking, the dad would be good for a part too. Not trying to get my hopes up but I am sick of asking former teachers who only tell me to just "get an agent" or bitter colleagues only tell me how "dumb" I am for reaching out. Sorry but just rather keep some projects under the wraps until further notice. |

| Question: What is stage combat?? Posted: 18 Sep 2015 03:54 PM PDT Stage combat is a specialized technique in theatre designed to create the illusion of physical combat without causing harm to the performers. It is employed in live stage plays as well as operatic and ballet productions. The term is also used informally to describe Fight choreography for other production media including film and television. It is a common field of study for actors and dancers with some form of martial arts training, and is closely related to the practice of stunts. |
