| Question: I'm trying to find documents of my great grandfather and can't find any passed 1880 or so? Posted: 04 Sep 2015 03:35 PM PDT I feel you mean passed 1880 going back. Ask another question giving us his name and about when and where he lived and say you can't find records before 1880. There just might be someone on Yahoo Answers that can come up with information. Not everything is online. I understand in Salt Lake City they have many records that are not on FamilySearch.org. We have people here that sometimes can pull rabbits out of hats. Have you been to a Family History Center at a Mormon Church. I have never had them to try and convert me nor have I heard of them doing that to anyone else that has used their resource. A lot of their volunteers are not Mormon. Use the following link to find the nearest Mormon FHC. |
| Question: Is Gentile an Italian surname or a British surname? Posted: 04 Sep 2015 02:47 PM PDT This is what the Dictionary of American Family Names has Gentile Name Meaning Italian: from the personal name Gentile, a continuation of Late Latin Gentilis meaning 'of the same stock (Latin gens)' and then 'non-Christian', 'pagan'; as a medieval name it was an omen name with the sense 'noble', 'courteous', also 'delicate', 'charming', 'graceful' (Italian gentile). In some cases the surname may have arisen from a nickname, sometimes possibly ironical, from the same word.English: variant of Gentle. Source: Dictionary of American Family Names ©2013, In English the Italian pronunciation would be sounded Gen til lae. The origin of any family with whatever name depends on the ancestry of the family which can only be proven by documents/records, not the origin of their name. |
| Posted: 04 Sep 2015 02:45 PM PDT "Baderon had a brother named Wythenoc, they both came to England with William the conqueror in 1066 from Brittany" and what original documentation do you have to prove that....... 1535 is when parish records started to be written, even then most don't survive, most PRs prior to 1750 are simply not suitable with enough information contained to prove anything, so you have PROVED 500 yrs beyond then, I don't think so and online too, I don't think so!

Here are the top collections, ranked by number of records. It look to me to be predominately Spanish, with some Italians. Puerto Rico, Civil Registration, 1805-2001 60,701 results |
| Question: What is my 2nd cousin twice removed granddaughter to me? Posted: 03 Sep 2015 01:15 PM PDT Your grandpa & her grandma > 2nd cousins Your parent & her parent > 3rd cousins You & her > 4th cousins Yes, you're related to your girlfriend. Being related to someone means that you share a common ancestor, which you do: in your case, you and your girlfriend share the same great-great-great grandparents, making you fourth cousins. It's a distant relationship, though, and it's perfectly fine to marry her, if that's what you're wondering. A lot of people marry distant cousins without even knowing it. |
