| Question: AncestryDNA vs FtDNA? Posted: 30 Dec 2015 12:07 PM PST Which ever one has the population samples that best match your ancestry and there is no way we or you can know that. The only thing they can do is match you with population samples in their database and this means if one doesn't have or is deficient in certain population groups that another has and vice versa, the results will vary. I feel FamilyTreeDNA probably has the largest since they have been doing DNA testing a lot longer. I understand they do the testing for National Georgraphic. |

| Question: What ethnicity would a person be if they had the last name Ascencio ? Posted: 30 Dec 2015 01:09 AM PST Chances are they would have Spanish or Italian ancestors, but if the person in question had one Spanish great grandfather and his/her other seven grandparents were, for instance, Chinese, his/her ethnicity would be Chinese. All you can tell from a surname is where it originated. Ascencio Name Meaning Source: Dictionary of American Family Names ©2013, Oxford University Press |
