| Question: Advice for competing against my ex-boyfriend for arts editor of our college newspaper? Posted: 09 Dec 2015 07:41 AM PST Be a professional instead of an emotional mess. By which I mean be courteous to him at every turn, never seeking to undermine or put down his efforts while giving your own best effort. Be distant and remote. Refuse to respond in kind if he behaves unprofessionally. Not only will the job go to whoever deserves it in the view of the committee, but you will have gained great practice for business in the real world, where you may be required to work with people you cannot abide. Mastery of professional behavior is a useful talent to have. |
