| Question: Art director in Film (Hollywood) how do I get there? Posted: 06 Dec 2015 10:54 AM PST I am 20 yrs old and set on becoming an Art Director (AD) in the Hollywood Film industry but I am very torn and overwhelmed on how I would initiate such career from Sweden. I live with my family and we are currently in the midst of a hard separation. So we're downsizing into a poorer estate, with my mother sleeping on the couch. It makes me very sad to see the conditions my mother has to endure and all I want is to invest in my future and be successful, so my family can have better lives... Working in an ART related field I know is very risky, many never make it big. But I'm thankfully equipped with multiple talents and I believe I can make it If I have a path. AD consists of a lot of visual development so Film school is maybe not ideal, I would need an art degree instead. Academy of Art University has a pretty fascinating Visual Dev. degree but I hear the school is BAD (but cheaper than average). The Entertainment Design program at Art Center in CA seems very solid but it's very expensive and I've heard the campus life/facility is pretty boring. Gnomon doesn't offer degrees but they DO have the contacts, though I can imagine this hindering financial aid grants. Additionally, I've heard about "the film connection school" which is basically an Internship for 8-12 months and they'll actually help you job hunting. it's a MUCH lower investment as well, but then again I would be left without the art foundation. So which would be the surest way to get me where I want to be? |

| Question: Could I make a dust plug out of ploymer clay? Posted: 06 Dec 2015 09:44 AM PST Dust plug as in both the actual plug, like what's on headphones, AND the charm for it. Basically, for Christmas, I was thinking of making cute little dust plugs for everyone, and after reading a few DIY websites, I found one that said that charms for dust plugs could be made from polymer clay... is it difficult to do? Could I make the actual plug with clay also? Thank you! :3 |
