Have you tried drawing from life? If not, work on that, and then move into the more stylized stuff for illustration. Drawing is very much a learned skill--while innate talent helps, people who are good at drawing do it all the time. I strongly recommend taking a couple classes in it, especially figure drawing. Being able to work from a live model helps you learn how the body moves, which in turn would be helpful with animation and the like.

Source(s): Drawing has never been my strong suit, but when I took it in art school, I actually managed to turn out some decent stuff. This is one case where practice really does make perfect.

Unless his hair is bleached and only the center was left alone - it looks 'off' to me.<p>The marks under the eyes (not sure if that's hair ends or just lines) make it look like he's got bags under the eyes, which isn't probably what they intended.</p><p>Face needs shading on the left cheek and chin, the nose is shaded on that side, so the face needs it too.</p><p>I'm not a big fan of the light outline around the hair. On the neck and shoulders fine, but the hair/head area not so much.
