Question: Is it harder to play bass left handed?

Posted: 25 Nov 2014 08:18 PM PST

if you haven't played any sort of guitar before, it won't be any more difficult one way or the other. the only difficulties I could see is the slight increase of difficulty finding a guitar you like.

of course lefty guitars exist, but it takes a little more work finding one on the used market...a lot easier buying at a store though.

you don't have any bad habits or muscle memory from playing previously...the beauty of starting from scratch is that you can do whatever you want...go southpaw!

Question: Is it too late to become a composer?

Posted: 25 Nov 2014 07:58 PM PST

Update : I'm 23 years old and I've never been sure about what I want to do with my life. Mainly because I always looked for a career that was easy that I could do, and made decent money. But I've finally realized I just want to do what I truly want, even if it means being indie or something. And I've realized I want to be a music composer, for video games specifically.

But I'm 23 and I don't have much music knowledge. I used to play the piano and I can read/play basic sheet music, but nothing too good.

Question: What is a good shakespeare female monologue???

Posted: 25 Nov 2014 07:52 PM PST

In Shakespeare they are called "soliloquies," not "monologues." One of the best is Portia's speech in The Merchant of Venice, act 4, scene 1, beginning "The quality of mercy is not strained..."

Question: Is it heard to learn to play the banjo?

Posted: 25 Nov 2014 07:49 PM PST

Banjo? It's difficult to answer that, because I don't know how skilled you are as a musician. I'd say mandilin (witch is similar to banjo and guitar in many ways) is easy for me, but I have a musical background with orchestral instruments.

Question: What songs should I play on guitar?

Posted: 25 Nov 2014 07:21 PM PST

What songs should I play on guitar?

No, I will not attempt to play any pop songs or main-streams songs. Give me some nice acoustic songs to play! I am at an intermediate level on guitar. Dont give me too difficult of songs please!

Update : I have to do a presentation about the Disney Renaissance. Being a big Disney fan I don' want to over do it and get into too much detail. I want to focus less on the history and more about the film s themselves. What would be a good thing to discus for 20 mins that's how long it will be i could talk about themes, characters,, values, etc. What else? also what would be some good video clips to demonstrate. I' covering 10 years of Disney history in 20 mins So I don't want to get too bogged down.

Question: Compassion or simplicity or patience, which is the most desirable?

Posted: 25 Nov 2014 10:16 AM PST

Life is not Ours to give or take, and this is only My thoughts, and Yours are jst as important as mine, whether we agree or not You are entitled to Your opinions,.. and to Me life is of an occasion from which we can not agree, personally I believe in Creation, because it gives Me a beginning, granted I don't totally comprehend it, but at least I can see something that I do not yet understand, but In the theory of Evolution I can not see a beginning, and I have never seen any thing appear from nothing. How did the Big Bang happen? where did the particles come from that had to be there for it to go bang that is my biggest trouble with evolution. So that leaves Me to believe that We have an onlooker of thee things that we do, and I believe that at the end We shall see all truths.and I feel that all life is precious.

Question: Could you critique my poem please?

really overwritten

I made it to the second comma.

Whining at harsh criticism doesn't do anything. First, show - don't tell. Second, fix your grammar and spelling and word usage. Third, don't explain your figurative language - it's not only annoying, it's insulting to the readers. Fourth, don't try to explain the entire condition of the universe in a poem like this.

Every nation
Tapping screens
Playing games and apps
Brand new phone
Makes me better, perhaps

A race is on
To solve problems anew
A raging tech war
Bought and sold by the lucky few..

Question: Why is everyone in my family named?

Posted: 23 Nov 2014 06:55 PM PST

Why is everyone in my family named?

This is really weird but a lot of people in my family have a middle name and every time it's Rafael, Raphael. not sure how it's spelled

Question: Changing my last name?

Posted: 23 Nov 2014 05:59 PM PST

Personally, I wouldn't mind if I had an adopted child who wanted to keep his family name. I think being part of a family has very little to do with a name, and a lot to do with the unconditional love you give & get from someone.

But you should really ask your mom. Different people put a lot of meaning in different things. Even though you love your family, and don't feel the need to change your last name because you already feel like you're a part of them, the fact that you take on the family name might mean a lot for her. It's a clear way to show that you're a part of the family. If you don't want to erase that part of your life, then maybe you could keep your birth last name as a middle name or something? Just a suggestion.

Also, this is simply my opinion, but I don't think you should keep your family name just because it'd be more convenient. After all, you will be passing the name onto your children (if you are a guy, not sure at the moment), and your mom's grandchildren will have that name as well. Definitely something to think about. Changing names isn't that confusing either, women who get married do it everywhere, every day.

So yeah. Definitely talk it over with you family in detail, about why you might want to change it, why you might not want to change it, and also about why your mom wants you to change it, why she doesn't want you to change it. But I really wouldn't choose to keep it just because it'd be easier.

Hope I helped :)

Question: All people are descended from some king in your family tree?

Posted: 23 Nov 2014 02:25 PM PST

No, only a few. The rest are descended from commoners. Kings usually married women of royal blood, but the randy old goats would couple with anyone who would hold still for 15 - 20 minutes; duchesses, viscountesses, serving maids, comely wenches in the tavern down the road from their hunting lodge . . .

I think you mean "Does everyone in our family tree have a king in his/her ancestry?" In that case, maybe. 85% of the people in the world with English, French, BeNeLux, Swiss and Northern Italian heritage are descended from Charlemange, supposedly. He was better than a king; he was an emperor.

Question: Does anyone do genealogy and found any famous people in their family tree ?

Yes. I know a family who are half first cousins, seven and eight times removed, to president John Adams.

I know another that is closely related to Ted Pack, who is, currently, #1 on Y!A in the Genealogy category for the USA version of Yahoo! Answers. That's the ultimate of fame. He can't leave the house without being hounded by paparazzi.

Question: What should I draw?

Posted: 21 Nov 2014 10:31 AM PST

Draw whatever you are feeling! Its seriously the best advice i can give you, sometimes just draw your emotion...if your sad you can even just start of with ripping some paper or smudging black paint or blue paint or whichever colour you wish too, thats the beauty of art. Of course if your just in a neutral mood, id suggestion animals! I love drawing peacocks, or maybe fashion ? create your own outfits, i sometimes do that. Who knows you might even get a career in it if they likes your sketches! have fun :)

Question: Where can I hire an animator?

Posted: 21 Nov 2014 09:39 AM PST

I create videos, but I haven t touched animation is years, so I wanted to know if anyone knows where I can find an animator.

I just need a short 1 minute video that won't even require that many drawings, most of the frames can be recycled. It doesn't matter what kind of animation, whether it's a flash or even Gmod.

Figured there's no harm in asking for other peoples input, cheers.

Question: Avenues for ancestry/history research?

Posted: 20 Nov 2014 03:37 PM PST

what you need is METHOD, which you can learn. The key element is, location AND TIME FRAME, to determine what documents may exist, and how to get to them. Some may be online, some may not be. No one can guarantee that you wont have to "buy" his birth certificate, however if he is living, you may not have that option. It is also defined by exactly what happened, in order for you to claim that no one knows his time and place of birth. Was he abandoned as an infant?
Unless you find a document and/or source to identify those parents, you have no means of finding ancestry.

Question: This is a picture I tooknof my families coat of arms "Campbells" it's been in my family for generations. I was wondering imf anyone has info?

Posted: 20 Nov 2014 01:51 PM PST

" it's been in my family for generations" Clearly you believe this as you have been told a family story, sorry but your story is untrue, NO CLAN has Arms, no families own arms, no surnames are associated with Arms, this is a typical scam so called " family crest" don't belong to families, the crest is just the top part, it is typical as these scam merchant add the surname and sell to people who haven't a clue about Heraldry...these were first made when American servicemen were stationed over in the UK during the War and they visited stately homes and castles finding Coats of Arms on buildings and they associated them with the family who owned or lived there, it happened to be their surname too and so they assumed just because they had the same surname they were related and had copies of these made up adding their surname at the bottom and took them home as souvenirs...... thats is how it started it is now a big money making business selling these tacky products and as there is no real Heraldry in the USA ( as it is a republic) it took off there as people were desperate to associate themselves with noble or Royal ancestry.

It is not real, it hasn't been in your family for centuries, it really is typical of a made up coat of arms........... REAL coats of Arms belong to individuals, when your father dies if he was AWARDED in a ceremony a Coat of Arms then on his death the eldest son can apply to the Heralds to be awarded his Arms , again a ceremony NO ARMS that are real have a surname written underneath, the individual who was awarded it knows who he is he doesn't need his name putting on.

You have already asked once it seems you don't like the truth, so you continue to ask in the hope someone will agree with you...wait long enough and some other person who hasn't a clue and also like you believes in 'family crests' will come along and tell you what you WANT to hear and WANT to believe

Question: This is one of the camobell clan family crest and I was wondering if anyone had info or what ranks had this crest.?

Posted: 20 Nov 2014 01:28 PM PST

http://www.ccsna.org/jsep10a.htm#A13
is the official Clan Campbell web site. It says:
-----------------
In Scottish heraldry there are NO "Clan Arms" or "Family Coats of Arms", whatever those attempting to sell you 'authentic' arms may state. The arms of the Chief, or of any individual, are their personal property and in Scots law may not be displayed except where indicating their presence or authority.

In Scotland the control of heraldry is equal in a certain sense to the United States registration of official seals and trade marks. It is official in law. The Lord Lyon is the Monarch's 'Supreme Officer of Honour in Scotland' to whom all heraldic matters have been delegated. He is a Judge of the Realm with considerable powers. While it can be argued correctly that Scots law does not extend beyond Scotland, members of Scottish clans and clan societies outside Scotland have an obvious vested interest in upholding the Scottish laws governing that clan's heraldry.

Every Scot granted arms is distinct from each other. Preference of the individual is taken into account subject to the laws of arms in designing new coats. Campbells display some version of the gyronny of eight which marks them as descendants of the forebears of the Chiefs of Clan Campbell.
---------------------------

"gyronny of eight", mentioned in the last paragraph are those eight triangles that make a square. I used Google Images for "Campbell family crest" and found lots, including the one you have - and proved that Google is just as bad as you. The "Crest" is that boar or wolf (it is drawn poorly; whatever it is, it has really big bottom teeth) the top. The whole thing is a coat of arms.

This one, I would bet, was given to or bought by a sailor. His eldest legitimate son inherits it. No one else should use it, until the eldest legitimate son dies, then HIS eldest legitimate son gets it, and so on.

It isn't like captains had one version and colonels another, or dukes and viscounts; each person who is awarded one or buys one gets a unique one, and they keep it for life, no matter how far up the chain they go.

Question: From what nation does the surname Zimochod originate?

Posted: 20 Nov 2014 01:24 PM PST

No nation, surnames are words and all words come from languages, languages are spoken in many different nations and as language spreads, it also can develop and mix with other languages, so you can get new words.......... this word? There are no genealogy records I could find which may give a clue to the language its from ( might not) certainly some people have this word as a surname, all that I found are in English speaking countries but is is not an English language word or English language surname..research your ancestry via the records of the individual person and you will ind origin of the people.surname hunting will not tell you

Question: How has Christianity influenced Roman art during the Renaissance?

Posted: 20 Nov 2014 09:00 AM PST

Well, the Roman Empire was long gone by the time of the Renaissance... Italy was a disorganized group of small principalities and kingdoms.

However, right up to that period, the Roman Catholic Church was an immensely wealthy and powerful institution, and was a primary patron of the arts as long as they were religiously oriented. So you had a huge boost in church construction with related architecture, painting and decoration and sculputer with religious motifs, music creation for masses and hymns and such....
As well, many artists and musicians who were not directly funded by the Church would still find inspiration in these themes... The Western world at that time was very heavily influenced by the church even at that point, though it was beginning to wane.

Question: Is the internet just one giant psychiatric ward for nutcases?

Posted: 20 Nov 2014 09:39 AM PST

As a person who suffers from several mental illnesses, I have to strongly disagree. The internet is not a place for nutcases.

The internet is one giant daycare where millions of parents abandoned their children, then the staff left, the children formed their own system of government based on basic, primal urges, and now they're running around smashing everything, crying and screaming when they don't get their way, and trying to reason with each other by yelling "NO!" repeatedly, and getting into slap-fights.

THAT is what the internet is.

I am getting that tattooed on me for person reasons. But I want to know if my personal interpretation is far off of others interpretation of the text. I know what it means to me but I would like a second opinion. It is from the movie "Mr. Nobody". Thanks in advance for an opinion!

Question: I wanna kill myself?

Posted: 20 Nov 2014 09:16 AM PST

I wanna kill myself?

Everyone around me is so selfish, family especially. They're always angry at me no matter what I do or how hard I tried. It's been 3 years and all I did in those years is work, school and do things for people. I haven't gone out or had fun day in forever. They want me to do everything at the same time perfectly with my mouth shut. Every time I try to complain everyone turns against not that they are not against me already. Every bad thing that happens they blame it on me. No matter what I do I'm never good enough for them. The only time they show me some love is when I start doing something, and when I'm half way done with doing their things, they look at me up and down as if nothing. I'm so tired, that's how my whole life been. My dad abandoned me when I was 7 everyone turns rested me as if they can't wait for me to disappear. Many nights I would go to sleep crying and when I would close my eyes that was the only time where I would find some peace. But now not even when I sleep I can find peace, every time I close my eyes I get nightmares. I'm so tired I can't do this anymore, I kept lying to myself saying it will all be better just keep trying, just this one more time and it's only getting worse. Life is so not worth living, I only wish had the courage to do it. I want to do it so bad but I'm afraid of the pain, I'm afraid that if it doesn't work then idk. I wish I could hire someone to do it for me. Why is so much to ask to have some in my life that is not selfish.

Question: How do I figure out this ancestry stuff?

Posted: 19 Nov 2014 08:20 PM PST

How do I figure out this ancestry stuff?

So I come from a whole lotta everything. I could be 20 percent or only a sliver of them. I currently know I am French, German, Scottish, Irish, Cherokee Indian, some other tribe of Indian, and I think Dutch. Now I know you have to be a certain percentage to actually be considered these things, but I don't know if I am 20 % or 0. Either way i would like to read up on my ancestry and history!! Is ancestry.com really helpful? I can't really enter a lot of names because I don't know a lot of my families names! Any other resources or websites I could use? Also, I've seen the family "coat of arms" online but how would know if that is actually towards my family or another with the same last name?

Question: I am mostly german by ancestry/heritage, is it ok to be proud of my scottish relatives that are in my family tree althoughdifferentsurnames?

Posted: 19 Nov 2014 05:37 PM PST

You have mother...whose surname was different before she was married, the same goes for her parents. SURNAMES have nothing to do with being related, and surely are not why you are proud (or not proud) of anyone.
Your relatives are your relatives... one ancestry or surname is not better than the other.

Question: Slave name from 1700s?

Posted: 19 Nov 2014 02:28 PM PST

As others have stated slaves did not have surnames at all when they were brought over from Africa. Actually they were fairly new for Europeans. It was the first part of the 2nd millennium when Europeans started taking them and they weren't originally to identify a person as a member of a family but just to better identify him, frequently for taxation purposes. Slaves took surnames when they were emancipated. Many took the name of their former owner or they took the name of someone they admired.

Given names were whatever was bestowed on them by their owners originally and then they gave their children names from the Bible, frequently old testament names.

Actually when the slaves took surnames after the Civil War they were just about 50 years behind the people of the Netherlands. The Dutch took surnames when it was decreed by Napoleon that they should have one.

Question: Hessian Soldier?

I assume you know his name. Many Hessian soldiers were offered land in exchange for their loyalty to the US: British Desertion. If they accepted, there would be land documents and census records. If he stayed after the war, he will show up in the census. Ancestry.com has pretty thorough records of censuses, so it might be worth it to do a trial on there to see what you can find. Start by entering maximum information, meaning full name, DOB, DOD, and relatives. Then, broaden your search by checking for alternate spellings (Steven, Stephen, Stephan, S.; Smith, Smithe, Smyth, Smythe) and removing the DOB or using a ten year window (1744-1755).

One whole side of my family is American Revolution (DAR, SAR) and Mayflower decended (Mayflower Society) and I've spent countless hours on ancestry.com tracing my family's roots. Depending on where your family settled, your and my families may have known each other and certainly may have met on the battlefield.

Good Luck in your search

Edit: Someone in the UK might have mercenary records, but I just don't know. If he was a POW, the camp he was at would have had info on him. If that info still exists, it should be public record. It may not be digital, so you may need to travel to whomever holds the records (like the national archives or the camp's historical society).
