All of ballet comes from your natural turnout so if you have shallow hip sockets that is helpful in ballet along with naturally flexible hip rotators allowing a full 90 degrees of rotation from each hip. Next is long stretchy Achilles tendons and a foot with a decent arch and flexibility. While high arched feet with a high instep are desirable and part of a ballet body i it doesn't make it easier but harder. That is also true of the hyperextended knees that professional ballet dancers have. Long stretchy Achilles are important for big juicy plies. Long legs, long arms and a long neck are desirable as it makes a nice line but not essential to ballet training. Weight only matters for a ballet career, pointe work and pas de deux (partnering.)
You don't need to have a perfect ballet body to learn ballet and take classes and you can be as thin as a pin and not have one. A ballet body is bone and muscle structure and weight is a changing variable that only maters for advanced dancers en pointe and of course for professionals.

Recreational ballet is for anyone of any age, shape and size. Enjoy your classes!

My daughter is a professional dancer. I worked for NYCB (New York City Ballet)
