| Posted: 09 Nov 2014 02:03 PM PST It's even suggested in the bible.... "In the beginning the world WAS god...." words and pictures were magic. It's hard to know when people began to speak or make pictures - we have extremely beautifully done pictures from 25,000 years back. At that time - as in animistic tribes up to this day - humans lived in a world filled with magic and gods. Gods in the trees, gods in the wind - and to draw or paint or say these was magic. this is probably why in the bible you are restricted from making a "graven imagine of ANYTHING which is the earth or the sky or in the sea..." This is a commandment which Jews and Christians obviously don't take too seriously, but the Muslims did. In short, the act of "art" or even of speech was probably thought to be magic - or capable of capturing strong hunting magic (as in the cave paintings of the animals). I suppose that magic ranks with "religion". Everything a man did from building a fire to killing an animal was very probably a "magic" thing for which he needed "luck" and perhaps the attention of the gods. |

Update : I'm thinking of getting an art tablet. |
| Posted: 09 Nov 2014 11:05 AM PST You can either take the very graphic and emotive route, or you can take the detached and matter-of-fact route. You may think that the latter would be hard to do in an impactful way, but in fact it can be very hard-hitting. For example: Her head hit the dash board. I saw her skull shatter into a dozen fragments of bone and watched her blood coat the windscreen... etc. Or The report shows that her death was instant and that she felt no paint. The crash caused an obstruction across the north-bound side of the dual-carriageway for twenty-four hours. That day four people died... etc. Just mess around with styles and see what you come up with. |
