Question: Guitar Music Staff Note Question? Posted: 16 Nov 2014 08:50 PM PST I recently started self-studying and am currently learning to play the guitar, but I'm confused about reading some of the music notes. The beginner's book I have (A red book titled "Everybody's Guitar Method 1: A Step-By-Step Approach", for those interested) doesn't seem to mention the question I have (unless it's explained later on?), so I decided to ask here instead if it'll help me understand it better. I attached an image with some blue circles around the parts I'm confused about. Basically, what are these circled letters and numbers at the top of the Music Staff? For example: F, G, Dm7, C/D and Fmaj7. (As a bonus-question for anybody else, what are some recommended resources - whether online, a book, or a video of some sort - for a new and aspiring guitarist? =] I own an electric guitar at the moment, but I'll most likely switch to acoustic later on.)

Question: How would I play the soprano sax part on the alto? Posted: 16 Nov 2014 07:27 PM PST How would I play the soprano sax part on the alto? I have the soprano sax part to Super Mario Bros, but I want to play it on the alto sax. I was wondering if I would just add 3 flats to the soprano to get the alto part? Please help me with this transposition.
Question: Any places in KC I could work over the summer? (specifically performing or tutoring!)? Posted: 16 Nov 2014 07:11 PM PST I d like to start looking soon for jobs I can work over the summer. Since I m going into theatre education, I d like a paying job as some kind of tutor or stage performer. Does anybody know of any paying theatres in KC I could audition at? Or coffeehouses I could sing at regularly for profit? Thanks a million!
Question: How can I get better at fretting on my guitar? Posted: 16 Nov 2014 06:56 PM PST How can I get better at fretting on my guitar? I have a squire fender, one of the cheap ones for beginners, but I'm using it to practice. I just started learning how to play guitar. I was wondering how can get better at fretting multiple strings all in a sequence, like the minor pentatonic scale. I keep on messing up. I would also like to know how I can increase my picking speed. I'm already using a metronome and practicing, but I'm not sure of what speed I should set it at.
