Question: Why did many white Northerners and Southerners oppose the campaign to end slavery?

Posted: 09 Nov 2014 06:58 AM PST

Ya gotta remember that the Christian faith had much more of an impact on folks' attitudes back then - and there are several Bible verses that support keeping slaves.
Then, too, remember that the Southern economy depended upon slavery. They were an agrarian society, with far less in the way of industry than in the North. In fact, that difference in industrial capacity played an enormous part in the Confederacy losing the Civil War.
And a great many Northerners had business dealings with the South, and realized that an end to slavery would seriously impact their own bottom line.

Question: Is there any grammar mistake??"I will not submit to force which try to make our eyes that try to face the history squarely closed."?

It is less a grammar mistake and more that your sentence just doesn't make sense. Perhaps try "I will not submit to any force that tries to close our eyes to history."

Question: What was the short term impact of martin luther in bringing about the reformation in the Holy Roman Empire between 1516 and 1536?

His translation of the Bible into the language of the people (vernacular) made it more accessible.

His hymns influenced the development of singing in churches.

Question: How did William the Conqueror stop the English from attacking his army?

We know very little. Until some very recent archeological research, we did not even know the true location of the battle of Hastings, certainly we did not have the mass graves you would expect fo find after a mediieval battle. There was a mismatch of military forces, the Norman French were a different fighting force than the Anglo Saxons, and military disciipline (or the lack of it) seems to have done for the English forces.
