Question: Is it too late to start ballet at 15? Posted: 24 Aug 2015 10:09 AM PDT Nope, not at all. If you want to be a professional ballet dancer with a ballet company then it is defiantly too late as people your age are already at least grade 6, going into vocational levels. If its just for a hobby, then defo!!!!! go for it, its great fun, great exercise, meet great people, etc :)

Posted: 24 Aug 2015 09:41 AM PDT Back up dancing, also known as professional commercial work. Join a local stage school, dance school or dance club. Its best to pick a club or school that will officially grade you, ask them, 'do you do grade exams?' (dance grades are 1-8, ballet goes into 8+5 vocational grades also), so you can write on your CV 'jazz grade 6, commercial grade 2, modern grade 3' so directors know what you can or cannot do in regards to your performance. Get an agent: google 'dance agent auditions in/near [your town] or a city near you OR ask your dance teacher to find you an agent audition Your agent will then find auditions for work and jobs for you, for example, a backup dancer contract with beyonce, one direction, or what ever band/singer/group that needs dancers or a music video , etc...etc..
Question: Am I dancing enough? Posted: 24 Aug 2015 09:32 AM PDT If your 'ballet academy' is a professionally run, and they advice you to do at least 15 hours, then thats great, follow their advice. It really depends on your age, which you havent mentioned, but when i turned 13-14 i was doing more then 15 hours per week. More like 5-7 hours a day and very rarely less then 4. What, i know, is really hard if youre under 16 because you have your academics too. :( :( :( In the world of ballet, it is much more important youre doing more as its VEEEERY hard to get into a professional company and get a carer in ballet. Most ballet companies accept like 1-3 people PER YEAR! thats CRAZY!!!!!
