| Question: Electric guitar or accoustic? Posted: 13 Aug 2015 03:35 PM PDT Well, there you have it. TA for electric, A for acoustic. 'Never mind the Thumbs. Keep your eyes on the prize. The main weight of the pros, working and retired here, will be for acoustic, mainly because it keeps things a bit simpler, and won't slather over really sloppy technique with effects "hot sauce". On the other hand, if you are a hard 'Rocker at heart, it would be a shame to get so bored with an acoustic that you just say 'F it and quit. Then there's quality. You need enough to have a chance to learn without fighting the flaws of some POS. At a given (low) budget, 'nature sides with an acoustic. Kinda like $150-200 for one, vs. the same for a basic electric - but then there's the amp, and there went the budget... If you got the 'stones/discipline to hang on, playing an acoustic will make you a stronger, faster, snappier electric player, too. I used to like spending some time with my flat-top, kinda cleaning my head out, then getting back up with my guys a week later, firing up my stage rig, listening to that little hiss of the dragon, and then we would just fly. Kinda like your bad-boy cousin with the fast car, or Mom. (I'm too weird.) |
