Question: If questions no longer existed as of now, how would this effect all learning in general? Posted: 17 Aug 2015 08:07 AM PDT Most learning would cease. All learning would come only from the senses, for example you learn that a tree is in front of you--but not what it is called. This is the crux of Empiricism. The question/answers is the crux of Rationalism.
Posted: 16 Aug 2015 11:35 PM PDT Billions of years ago, some microscopic replicator molecules formed, the planet filled up with them, and they began to evolve slowly with the changing environmental conditions, and billions of years later, mammals evolved, then higher primates, and then us. It took billions of years for all of this to get like this, and that is why we are currently alive. We are the present living entities of a chain of events that goes back billions of years.

Question: What entices you to answer a question in the Philosophy section? What draws you in? Posted: 16 Aug 2015 03:12 PM PDT Familiarity. If the subject is something 'known' to me... I am tempted to 'throw out' an opinion. Even though I know beyond any doubt... that it that it is not an answer. The beauty of philosophising is testing fragile knowledge with tentative wisdom. Also, I get to sound 'posh' making up quotes that sound 'all intelligent like'.
Question: What's the best way to develop clear minded pragmatism? Posted: 16 Aug 2015 02:55 PM PDT Take on a role in life that imposes a responsibility for the welfare of others. The desire to do a 'good thing' allows us to understand the nature of dilemma's... and take the pragmatic view in approaching a satisfactory outcome. The result will always be imperfect... but 'pragmatism' itself demands that being virtuous is only effective when the unvirtuous are convinced of our righteous pragmatism. Pragmatics is the science of being unprovably wrong. As the old saying goes... " A lie is just another variation of the truth."
