Question: Is this free verse poetry ?

Posted: 05 Oct 2014 02:59 PM PDT

Okay, I need to try and make my answer like I know nothing,
and this is merely the writings of someone who has no experience
with poetry and knows nothing, so it's just a guess. I in no way
want to trample on man's Pride, his worst sin, to the point where
anyone needs to out them in public, as if someone else bothers
them, especially one who was a friend, enough to say "I love you
brother" must have been meaningless, but in the end, what does
it matter. All we have are opinions, the questioner needs to take
it or leave it.

If I think a poem needs or can be improved, I have the right to say it.
If it bothers anybody to the point of asking a bloody question on YAP
about it, that means it bothers them. My suggestion is "don't let it
bother you" if it brings you to this point. To me, just an opinion, there
is a wall of Pride that needs to be torn down. How do I know? I have
been through this exact same thing, and it hurts to go through it, because
I do not want to change for anybody.......but then I realized God was part
of all of this, and I had no choice but to confront myself --- and the problem
was not someone else, the problem was ME, Thomas.

Yes Michael, your very adequate poem is a free verse narrative, at least that
is what I think it is. Not positive, but that's what I call it. I liked it but did not
quite understand the ending. Oh well. Good effort.

(The stuff above it were some general observations about us and this forum, had
nothing to do with anyone but me, unless someone realizes it. Regards)

Question: Alexander Pope, An Essay on Man?

I need this for a homework like right now!! haha....I need to know what the poem (Epistle I) is about in general and also what this fragment is about:

From nature's chain whatever link you strike,
Tenth or ten thousandth, breaks the chain alike.
And, if each system in gradation roll
Alike essential to th' amazing whole,
The least confusion but in one, not all
That system only, but the whole must fall.
Let earth unbalanc'd from her orbit fly,
Planets and suns run lawless through the sky;
Let ruling angels from their spheres be hurl'd,
Being on being wreck'd, and world on world;
Heav'n's whole foundations to their centre nod,
And nature tremble to the throne of God.
All this dread order break—for whom? for thee?
Vile worm!—Oh madness, pride, impiety!

I need to know the topic of the fragment, and also figures of speech.. and the tone of the fragment :)

Thank you!!!
