I have limited my options to a few things.I am already in acting and musical theatre,so here are my other options.
*Colorguard-as in band colorguard,if I choose this I'll have to wait until next year to try out,but the idea of dancing and flagwork sounds fun to me
*Dance-I already did dance for 2 years, but I am thinking i could do it again, maybe choose a different dance style
*Tumbling-I did gymnastics for 5 years and tumbling for 4 months,i could go back and do that
*track-my gym coach really thinks i should run track, but I dont know
*choir-although not really a sport it seems like a fun extracurricular that could help with my musical theatre.
Im not really asking for which sport i should do.If you have a suggestion though, please say so.If you have done any of these though, please tell me what you liked about it,so I could get a good idea for what to look forward to.
Thanks

Question: How to slow dance??!?

Posted: 19 Oct 2014 09:32 AM PDT

First, you aren't going to learn by asking here.
"Slow dance" is a one-step or two step, depending on the tempo of the music, in which you take a step on either every beat of music, on every odd (first and third) beat, or a combination of the two. It's closely related to, and may be identical to, social foxtrot, which itself is related but not identical to ballroom foxtrot, with the "frame" of the social dance being more compact than that in ballroom.
There are people who take lessons for a couple of years to become good at it. That's obviously not going to happen before your dance, so you'll wind up doing about like most people: take your hold with your partner slightly offset to your right, take a gentle hold of any type you can manage, and shift your weight from one foot to the other in time with the music.

Question: How do i give my boyfriend a lap dance?

If you have to ask, then you aren't ready. Don't do something unless you really know what you're doing and are comfortable with it.

Also...don't overthink this. Lap dances are pretty self explanatory.

Question: Basic ballet positions?

Posted: 18 Oct 2014 08:25 PM PDT

Please do not try any of the ballet positions on your own before you start classes. Copying foot and arm positions does not mean that you are doing them correctly. You must learn to engage the right muscles to get you there all the while in proper alignment. That is hard enough to do with a teacher's eyes and hands on you for corrections. On your own it is just not possible. You will only start off wrong building bad habits that will be hard to break once you have proper instructions. Almost all of ballet comes from your turnout. You have to learn to engage those muscles deep within your hips and pelvic floor while wrapping your upper thighs outwards. If you do what the other answer says you will not be doing the 5 basic positions correctly
If you want to do anything to prepare for ballet class then do some yoga or Pilates. Pilates is how professional ballet dancers cross train. It will help prepare you body to accept ballet training.

Question: Tips for getting my double pirouette?

Posted: 18 Oct 2014 08:01 PM PDT

Are you spotting when you do it? Spotting is essential for any turn with more than one rotation.
To spot your turns, focus on a point in front of you, and keep focusing on it as you turn until youre facing the other way, and then whip your head around to look at the point again. You should only stop looking at it for less than a second.
Also, make sure you are not winding your arms back before you do the turn. This will throw you off balance, Sit into your plie firmly, with your weight centred, and hop on to relive. Dont rise onto it, instead do a tiny jump to get your toes in the right place.
Another way to do this is to practice doing singles and going back into the plie in between, Sit in your plie, rise and turn, sit in your plie, rise and turn. This way you can practice the counts!
Hope I helped!!

Question: So, i am a ballet dancer, and i have noticed that lately my legs have been bulking up a lot. Any exercises/dietary things to help? THANKS!?

Posted: 18 Oct 2014 07:55 PM PDT

If your legs are bulking up you are gripping your quads and that means you are working incorrectly when doing things like developee. You have to engage turnout and use your hamstrings to push your leg up from behind. Not pull up with the top of your thigh. That is what is bulking your legs as well as restricting height.
Using your muscles properly in ballet builds long lean not bulky muscle.
