| Question: I am American and curious about where I descend from in Europe? Posted: 21 Oct 2014 05:10 PM PDT There are a number of sites that will use your DNA to determine your ethnic origins. They can find things in your DNA to help pinpoint certain regions or countries of origin. You already know that you have a little bit of Danish in your background, so that is a start. These tests cost a bit of money, but so would working with a genealogist or subscriptions to Ancestry sites. You should read some more on these types of tests to see how accurate they are for European vs. African or Asian backgrounds. By the way, there is nothing wrong with being a "mutt" - you can just say you have the best traits of all the various cultures and none of the bad ones and can pick the best of any culture and adopt it as your own. Mutts are often healthier and smarter than purebreds. Besides, that is what being an American is all about. |
| Question: How do i find my lost aunt and cousin? Posted: 21 Oct 2014 01:06 PM PDT Jean, dear child, you don't have a clue. Perhaps you should read a dozen questions in the category that best fits what you are asking about, to see what works and what doesn't. In general, the more DETAILS you give, the better we can help you. Y!A has people at the other end. It isn't magic. No one knows you. We can't tell your heritage. If you are black, chances are your family has a legend of a Cherokee great grandmother. She wasn't; she was lighter than normal because her mother of grandmother had sex with her owner, back when she was a slave. That's the sad fact behind 95% of the African-Americans' legend of Cherokee blood. If your mother / father is alive and doesn't know where his/her sister lives, the sister doesn't want anything to do with your family. Sad but true. Many of us have relatives like that. |
