Question: Will Poety on Yahoo Answers Poetry (YAP) ever again be like it used to be?

Posted: 03 Oct 2014 04:05 PM PDT

YA has never been meant as a forum for critiquing poems. There are poetry forums and discussion groups out there specifically designed for that, where you won't get flagged for it. Try them.

Anybody can make a question or answer anonymous now, so it likely isn't a single person, but multiple ones hiding their own identity for whatever reason.

If you see postings that are not full sentences, report them. As to fun - sorry, but while answering on here can enjoyable, this site really isn't meant to be fun in the sense you mean. So go find a poetry forum out there - and have fun.

Question: Does anyone know all of this poem?

I did almost no research at all. Google provided answer in seconds. Here it is:

The Dishes Are Done by Ronnie Doe

Well, the dishes are done,
There's nothing in the sink.
So I think I'll sit,
And pour myself a drink.
But just as I sit,
I hear her voice.
And I've got to get up,
Because I've got no choice.

You see, I've got this woman,
Who says she's my wife.
And says I promised to love her,
For the rest of my life.
She's awful bossy,
And overbearing too.
And she loves to tell me,
What to do!

She says, "Ronald, are the dishes done?
Did you wash and dry each one?
Ronald, did you put them away,
Don't you listen to what I say?"

And I say,

"Yes, Dear, the dishes are done,
I washed and dried each one.
Yes, Dear, I put them away,
Because I always do whatever you say."

But I don't know why,
I let her treat me this way.
And I swear to God,
I'm going to leave her some day.
I'm going to walk out,
And I'm going to have some fun.
But until that day,
The dishes will be done.

Question: What were the religious beliefs of the Victorian poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and what was the basis for his beliefs?

Posted: 03 Oct 2014 12:02 PM PDT

One of the great mysteries of Sir Alfred Lord Tennyson was his beliefs in a higher
power or lack thereof. There were times where his writings showed a man searching
for truth in a God they he knew did not exist, but he wished in his heart he could
believe,

but then you would see him in church singing hymms of praise to God on a Sunday morn

It will never be known where he fell regarding his faith. I would like to believe before his
passing he came to know Jesus Christ, for if so, I shall get to meet the man some day.

Free Verse: Has no fixed meter nor structure but still uses poetic devices in its composition

Question: What do you thinks of my poems to my family?

Posted: 03 Oct 2014 09:01 AM PDT

I liked it. It was very real and endearing. If this is not true, even
better to the author being able to write something like this.

This is one sad thing I saw as it really stood out, and the protagonist
even admits so, and that is not being able to physically or in words
show her love for others. She states so in the letter---that's great, but
in real life, not hearing the "I love yous" because it is 'wishy washy' can
add up and hurt some one in the end. Maybe that was he intrinsic
purpose of the poem.

I think there could have been better imagery, and written in a more conductive
format, but most of that is not your fault, it's yahoos. Congrats and a good
poem.
