| Question: Can Hip Hop Dance be learned at home? Posted: 14 Apr 2015 12:11 PM PDT Hey everyone i am 21, and i used to breakdance when i was 14. i got my love of dance back recently and really want to do it again. now, the thing is, ballroom dance is not really something you can learn on your own. in order to be really good at it, you would have to pay up and take lessons. but i remember when i was 14 i taught myself how to windmill just from watching instructional videos on youtube. can the same be applied for hip hop dancing such as popping and locking, krump, turfing, and jerkin? is hip hop really the only dance style that someone can be good at by self teaching? |

| Question: Any ways to help my sore feet? Posted: 13 Apr 2015 09:52 PM PDT Always remember to warm up your feet before you dance as that is a part some dancers seem to forget to do. And of course stretch your feet after class as well. Get a foot roller or use a tennis ball and roll the bottom of your foot on that to help relax your arch after class. Invest in some Arnica gel as that is great for sore muscles and a dancer's best friend. You can also use anti-inflammation meds like Advil. Regarding hot and cold.....Ice for injury if the area is warmer to the touch then the rest if your body. Don't put ice directly on your skin as it should be wrapped in a towel. No more than 10 minutes on once an hour several times a day. For sore achy muscles generally heat is required. Don't use a heating pad (dry heat) but moist heat instead. |
