Question: What are some harder shank pointe shoes? Posted: 18 Apr 2015 08:29 AM PDT If you are going over your box you may need a deeper vamp. Especially if you have long toes. As traditional pointe shoes are only made to last 12-20 hours if dancing in them, depending on how much you are en pointe that is about average for many dancers. It might not be so much the hardness of the shank as the cut of the shoe that is your problem. Have you considered Gaynor Minden? They will last you twice as long. As they don't break in the way traditional pointe shoes do, you buy them "broken in" to where you like your shoes. Make sure you have an experienced fitter. One finally thing. With traditional pointe shoes you must partially break in your shoes before you dance in them so they don't break in incorrectly. They will also last a longer too as shoes that break in improperly go very fast.
Question: How to become a professional ballerina? Posted: 18 Apr 2015 08:02 AM PDT I am going to assume that you mean a professional ballet dancer of any rank and not a top principal dancer in a company. The route many students take to become a professional ballet dancer is as follows: By your age you should be in a vocational school and be taking 20-30 hours of ballet a week. If you are not in a vocational school make sure you are taking enough ballet technique classes (perhaps at several different dance schools and you need not neglect other dance forms) and audition for a vocational school as soon as possible or when 15/16 but you would have to be very proficient in technique. After Year 7 besides showing potential, you would also have to show that your technique is at least at the same level of the students in the school. It is very hard to get into Years 8-10 in a vocational school because in order for you to get in, students would have to be assessed out unless there are extra beds added but in Year 9 more students are assessed out due to physical changes making there be more places for Year 10. I know that my answer is biased towards a certain country but that is the process I am most familiar with. For someone living in a different country I would change my answer, but the age you would need to start and how proficient your technique would need to be would not differ greatly.
Question: Song ideas for music video? Posted: 18 Apr 2015 06:51 AM PDT Hello! I'm trying to make a music video for a project and I need song suggestions. I'm studying abroad in St Petersburg, Russia and I want to make a dance/music video of me in famous places around the city. It's just supposed to be a fun way to showcase all the places I've gotten to experience. Any song ideas would be really helpful!
