| Question: What's a good camera for shooting cars? Posted: 05 Apr 2015 09:10 AM PDT You may find that the Pentax K50 to be a superior camera to the D3xxx series from Nikon. With its built-in image stabilization, you can use any lens hand-held at a much lower shutter speed or lower ISO than the Nikon. Using lower ISOs as you probably know increases sharpness, contrast and color while producing noiseless images. This is critical because many car shows don't allow tripods, plus if you do video, you get IS with any lens with the Pentax because the IS is in the body and not in the lens. For lenses, you're going to want to get a super-wide lens and one that can focus in on the details. The main problem with car photos is reflections. When you're at car shows, you're going to get a lot of reflections of other people and cars in the paint. So you will often find that shooting the entire car produces poor-quality images, and that is when getting in close and focusing on the details produces better images. |
