Question: Best Tripod under $100? Posted: 12 Apr 2015 10:05 PM PDT It is false economy to buy a cheap tripod. You need one that can hold at least 7 kg because you never know what new lenses you will eventually buy. Many times the weight of the camera and lens can exceed 5 kg. Having one that can hold 7 kg is good insurance. Look on B&H Photo for sturdy tripods that cost between $100 to $200 including the tripod head. The best brands are going to be listed on that site.
Question: Sunny day outdoor portrait photography? Posted: 12 Apr 2015 10:02 PM PDT You will need to use either a flash fill or reflector to fill in the harsh shadows caused by full sun. The other option is to shoot with your subject in the shade. It seems to be that, that is the only option you have As you may have guessed, most portrait photographers use at least one assistant to hold the flash fill or reflector. I also, recently, have added a third assistant to take "behind the scenes" photos which are then posted on a social media website during the shoot.

Question: How artwork is used to protest social and political injustice….? Posted: 12 Apr 2015 08:42 PM PDT How has photography been used as a vehicle for social change? Consider Ansel Adams and how he used photography to focus on environmental issues and how the work of Lewis Hine brought attention to child labor practices in the early days of the 20th century. Can you share additional examples of photographers who used or currently use photography to bring public attention to the suffering caused by war, poverty, hunger and neglect? You may also want to research and consider how photography was used to sway public opinion during the final years of the Vietnam War. Do photographers have the same kind of access to images and information that they had in the Viet Nam Era of War as opposed to the photographic coverage of today's' wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and recent events in the Middle East ? If not, why do you think this is the case? If so, what brings you to your conclusion? How images do made public by citizen photographers and journalists impacting content available through mass media?
