Question: Suggestions on my poem?

Posted: 08 Apr 2015 04:39 PM PDT

Hello, I wrote a poem. It's not very good. It's just a first draft. I'll probably make changes to it. It's an anti self harm poem. I've struggled with in the past... Once you go through depression, it doesn't just go away. It stays with you forever... I named it 'Survival'. Is this a good title? Give me suggestions. cx

Survival:
You're stronger than you ever thought,
people mistreating you is why you forgot.
on the outside you may be smiling,
but on the inside you're dying.

It's hard to hide,
all the feelings inside.
So you slice away,
it helps you relieve the pain of everyday.

You cannot deny,
help is what you need,
but you'll continue to lie.
From your arms you'll bleed.

A fake smile to hide the pain,
and the emotional stain.
With you head hung low,
you don't know where to go.

The razor only mask the pain,
you'll still be trapped in the rain.
You'll still feel alone,
you'll still feel ashamed.

The scars on your body,
the screams in your head
will be there long after
the depression is dead.

Don't let them bring you down,
your demons you must drown.
You'll come back shining,
and much stronger for trying.

Although you've recovered it, it became a part of you
Forget the people who judge you untrue.
Learn from your mistakes, and know you're alive
Don't forget what you did to survive.

Eh, I like it..but as I always do when I write poems. I'll probably change it up several times trying to make it perfect. Suggestions? Thanks. In advance. cx
