Posted: 20 Nov 2015 06:08 AM PST Most of the time, that kind of affection is part of the dance. It's how they set the scene and the kiss is the finale. The dancers also develop a close physical and emotional bond so there are times when a spontaneous kiss is nothing more than a spontaneous kiss. If there seems to be chemistry between the couple, adding a little kiss is a ratings grab.
Posted: 20 Nov 2015 02:29 AM PST In an ideal situation you would have realized this earlier so you'd have more time to practice and match the level your peers are at. Now, all you can do is keep practicing, maybe try to come up with mnemonics or some way to remember the moves easier. See if you can be put further back since you don't know the routine as well. Good luck, but take this as a lesson so that you practice more next time!

Question: Is it possible to have square splits??? I’ve been trying yet seeing no progress? Posted: 19 Nov 2015 10:57 PM PST I do not suggest trying to do an over-split until you can do the splits. That would be like doing an aerial before you learned to do a cartwheel. Try not to bounce when stretching, try to keep your back straight and lean into the stretch nice and slow. You don't want to rush a stretch, you may injury yourself and it's not as beneficial in the long run. For the straddle--lay on your back with your butt against the wall. Extend your legs up the wall and then let them fall into the straddle stretch gravity will help pull your legs down (you can also pull down on them to get them farther. Hold as long as you can. Repeat a few times. Also when you are doing your normal stretching in the straddle position, right before you are done stretching, lean forward into the middle and then try to pull through the stretch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MhiIL6A... (watch around the 15 sec mark for what I'm referring to) As long as you don't rush and push yourself too fast, you can really make progress fast. Make sure that you really work both sides as evenly as you can. Don't lose faith, I'm in my 30s and only got my left splits recently and they could still be cleaner, it just takes time and you can do it.
Question: Can you teach yourself ballet if you record yourself? Posted: 19 Nov 2015 09:31 PM PST You cannot teach yourself ballet from a book or video. (You certainly can't correct yourself by watching yourself on video when you have no clue what you are doing.) Copying foot and arm positions doesn't mean you are doing things correctly. You need to learn to engage the right muscles to get you there all the while in proper alignment. That is hard enough to do with a qualified teacher's eyes and hands on you for corrections. On your own it is just not possible. All you will do is make poor habits that will be harder to break if you ever start real classes than if you had done nothing at all. On top of that, you also need a proper sprung or floating floor like you would find in a reputable dance studio. Working on a floor with no "give" for any decent amount of time and you will get joint damage, shin splints, possible stress fractures and almost always end up with chronic Achilles tendinitis. That is why series ballet dancers on track for a ballet career only stretch at home. Instead of home practice they take multiple daily ballet classes. Even professional ballet dancers take a daily class with the company ballet master/mistress before a performance or rehearsal. If they can't do it on their own.... You can see where I am going with this. The link to that app ( tool) is meant to be used for sports not ballet or jazz along with working with a coach. In the case of figure skating which is the closest thing to dance mentioned, the coach uses it WITH the students as mentioned in the testimonial as an aid to her teaching not as a replacement for it.
