| Posted: 01 Nov 2015 09:30 AM PST Actually it does not matter since both camera companies are the "go to" brands used by at least 80% of the working pros. Asking a bunch of strangers how to spend around $1.300 on the start of a camera system is a "hit and miss" proposition. You need to do your own research. Visit the Nikon, Pentax and Canon websites and take good notes on the cameras that fit your budget. I used to make a hand written "spread sheet" so I could later review what I had learned about various cameras Next visit DP Review and read the professional reviews written on those camera models. AVOID reading owner reviews since many are written by novice photographers who either have unrealistic expectations of a fully adjustable camera or "love" their camera because it is so "cool" Neither is a good indication of how any specific camera will perform in your hands after you have learned the fundamentals of photography in class and have used the camera enough to were your muscle memory is accomplishing about 80% of the tasks when it comes to balancing ISO, shutter speed and lens aperture and you are focusing your creative energy on producing compelling images, using your skills in composition and design and using light in a way that makes a great shot a brilliant one Finally, visit DXOmark.com and look at the sensor performance of your choices. That may be the final step before you actually visit a proper camera shop and hold each of those cameras in your hands Here is a link that will show you how and allow you to practice, balancing ISO, shutter speed and lens aperture before you spend any money. |
