Posted: 02 Nov 2015 08:28 AM PST Besides needing to understand how to get near perfect exposures each time you press the shutter release on the camera, there are two skills that are unique to shooting portraits. * portrait lighting. Using a key, fill and rim light to give the person a three dimensional look on a two dimensional medium. This you can do using your lights and any object you like. I have used a camp coffee pot sitting on a table to practice my lighting techniques. The pour spout makes a near perfect representation of a persons nose when it comes to lighting. It can take years before you become a competent portrait photographer, so do not get frustrated when your images are not up to your standards right a way. Visit Youtube and look for tutorials on portrait lighting and posing. |

| Question: Someone knows name of this photo effect? Posted: 02 Nov 2015 06:52 AM PST If this was done using a film negative, that image could have been produced using "ortho-litho" film. I think in Photoshop there is a way to take a photo and produce such an image with only 255 (pure white) and 0 (pure black) images with no grey tones. Here is a photo I made using two negatives from the same roll of film. I made one 4x5 inch litho negative (the wharf) and one 4x5 inch positive (the gull) from them and then sandwiched them together when I printed them in the darkroom So for clarity, this is actually a technique, NOT an effect |
