| Question: How do I find my brother's SSDI on ancestry.com? Posted: 05 Nov 2015 02:47 PM PST Go to the SSDI collection: http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.asp... Enter his name, birth date and death date. Sometimes the name will be first initial only, and sometimes the death date will be month and year only, no day. I suspect you left some details out. Finding someone's entry on the SSDI is pretty straight-forward. If he died after March 2014 he won't be there yet. I tried for anyone named "Smith" and played with the dates to find out how current it was. |
| Question: Trying to find is guy had any kids? Posted: 05 Nov 2015 02:04 PM PST Lon was born 9 Nov 1903 in Arkansas. He died 17 Aug 1973 in Los Angeles County, probably Woodland Hills. He married Dixie Virginia Blinn, whose first husband was a Mr. Smith 1 Oct 1946 in Los Angeles County. She died 10 Nov 1950 in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California. He married Fermetta Bloom sometime after that. The Mormons (www.familysearch.org) have 198 people named Fendley born in Los Angeles County 1950 - 1970. None have a mother's maiden name of Bloom. She was b. 1905 in Minnesota, and married him sometime after 10 Nov 1950 - probably at least a year. That means she was 46 or better when she married, which is getting very close to being too old to bear children. It is probable that this was at least a second marriage for her. It is physically possible that they had a late baby and she used her first husband's surname instead of her maiden name, but I think it unlikely. I can't find an obit for either one in Newspapers.com. |
