| Question: What would my great grandfathers unlce's great grandson be known as by me? Posted: 04 Nov 2015 10:51 AM PST Start by simplifying the terms This is your great great granduncle. His son would be your great grandfather's first cousin. His grandson, a second cousin to your grandfather. Which would make his great grandson, your third cousin once removed ( a term which denotes differences in generations.) |

| Question: How am I related to someone who has the same great aunt as me.? Posted: 03 Nov 2015 08:36 PM PST If I'm reading this right, there are three siblings: Zach's grandpa, "great aunt", and Anne's grandpa (who is/was married to Anne's grandma, maker her sister-in-law to great aunt). If that's the case, then: Zach's parent and Anne's parent are 1st cousins (because they're the children of siblings) 2nd cousins share the same great-grandparents, which Zach and Anne do (the parents of their grandfathers). |
