I'm afraid to go to dance classes by myself?

There was a trial week last week where we could go to a class for free, so my friend and i went, and that was a disaster. Long story short, nothing they taught was beginner and we ended up embarrassing ourselves with not being able to dance any of the choreography. I want to learn how to dance, but my friend can't go the days i can, and i have anxiety so it's very hard for me to be alone in situations like these especially since i'm afraid of embarrassing myself again and because i'm a beginner in a class with kids who know how to dance. I really want to dance but i have no confidence nor courage. How do i prep myself? Other dance schools in my area aren't exactly as good as this one i tried out, so there's no other schools that i could go to. Registrations are also tomorrow, and i'm considering backing out and i really don't want to but might end up doing so....
