| Question: Is it possible to do vibrato on open strings on a guitar? Posted: 20 Sep 2016 03:19 PM PDT Yes, 'sorta. First off, note the difference between tremolo (cyclic amplitude variation) and vibrato (cyclic pitch variation). On an electric, you can "fake" a trem by rolling a vol/tone control pot. With a strong guitar and hands, you can get some vibrato by doing a "neck bend", firmly grasping the head and pulling/pushing, augmented by the right hand pushing and relaxing the face of the guitar. Second is not recommended for most, lest one break it. A little example - but check out the near-by vid on the "fail:, too... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyq4Nfw6... And all the guys are going Holy Crap, Danny...Hey, I didn't say it was a good idea... |

| Posted: 20 Sep 2016 11:43 AM PDT You could study photography or videography. You could also research the latest technological trends and study the subject you think will be the "next big thing." For example, a guy I know was a back-stage guy and set builder for theaters... His specialty was lighting and he was an early advocate of LED technology.... A few years later when things like big LED video curtains became popular at concerts, he was called in as an "expert" and spent a couple years traveling the world setting up venues for major artists and big concerts. Failing all that, you could just become a "roadie"... |
