Question: College dance team requirments? Posted: 26 Sep 2016 11:55 AM PDT You will be up against dancers who have trained their whole lives. Mostly in competition schools and recital schools. As you have had no training you may move well but will have no real dance technique. You won't even understand the choreography when it is shown to you as things will be given by names you have not likely even heard let alone know how to do. They may start off warming up with a ballet barre and you will be clueless. If this was for junior high school not haveing training might not matter as much but for college it does.

Question: Last 8 inches for left leg split? Posted: 26 Sep 2016 08:00 AM PDT Yesterday I asked how long it would take for me to get into a full split, with my left leg being the most flexible with 19-ish inches left. This was weeks ago, when I measured for the last time. And today I wanted to see if it got worse. But I actually got A LOT closer. I have 8 inches to go. This is without doing any stretches or warming up. The weird part is, since the last time I measured, I never did any exercises. I just got a lot further. Which obviously makes me very happy. Today after work I'm going to stretch and warm up (in whichever order) and see how much I go further into the split. Anyway, how long would it take me? I want to focus mainly on my left leg split.

Question: Should i give up at this point? Posted: 25 Sep 2016 06:37 PM PDT If this is just about getting pointe shoes then it is doubtful you would stick with ballet long enough even if it were a real ballet school. If you really loved dance then you wouldn't be "pointe shoes or forget about it and quit." Have you checked to see if the more professional schools have "open classes" where you don't have to audition to get in? Many professional schools do. At least you would be assured of getting good training in a proper facility. You may even get pointe shoes one day if that is your goal (barring any physical limitations you may have been born with.) A very few people can never do pointe work due to their foot or hip bone structure. Recreational dance is for anyone of any age or abilities. There are many adult classes too so there is no reason why you can't make dance a part of your life for the rest of your life.
