| Question: Is electric guitar easier than acoustic guitar? Posted: 30 Sep 2016 08:15 AM PDT No, it's not easier to play at the same level of skill, just different. At an early level, it is easier to hide or bury mistakes on an electric, however, by heavy use of amp effects. The one thing you note in having difficulty with, shifting chords, remains a learning and practice chore for either type. Any time you like, go to a decent music store and try a few of both, at least about the $150 range, and see for yourself. Other acoustics may suggest something about the one you've been using, too. If the electric trips your trigger, then there's gotta be an amp, about another $100. Pretty soon after, many then spend yet another $100 for effects pedals (so that side's now adding up to about $350). For better stuff, double all those numbers. BTW, don't even think about or going acoustic-electric... Right now, make the best of what you have to use, and refill that piggy bank. |
