| Question: Is this drawing of two women standing in profile racist? Posted: 12 Sep 2016 12:10 PM PDT Is this drawing racist? I shared a photoshop sketch of two tall women with different body proportions, and asked for feedback about beauty standards. One of the responses was that the portrayal of the African-American girl was very racist. What do you think? Explain your reasoning. http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b450/lisa_ohl/proportions-1.0042bcefghijlkllkjlzzzzzzzzz-side555555t-im888b_zpssxjtuhym.jpg http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b450/lisa_ohl/proportions-1.0042bcefghijlkllkjlzzzzzzzzz-side555555t-im888br_zpsg77zisc0.jpg Personally, I don't find it racist at all, but am curious as to why it could be labeled as such. Thanks. |

| Question: Can anyone help me in determining the approximate date that this photo was taken? Posted: 12 Sep 2016 08:34 AM PDT I have a set of family photos that I am attempting to date. The photos are very distinctive in that they are square in format with a date printed on one edge. I believe that they are Polaroid film of some type and that the date is the expiration date of the film. I have been unable to find photos of this type online. I have attached a representative below. 1. Can anyome tell me what type of film (or camera) this is? 2. More importantly, if you are familiar with the film type, do you know approximately how long the film was good for when it was originally sold in the 1960s? For example, if the film was typically sold having an expiry date within 12 months, then the attached photo was probably taken in the November 1965 to November 1966 time frame. This would allow me to approximately date a bunch of family photos. (I do understand that the film could have been used after its expiration date so the estimation process will not be perfect.) Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide! |
