I'm quite sure someone with that name has died in the past. Since you've neglected to include any details, there is zero hope someone here can help you.

Question: Is the surname 'Cooper' of Scottish origin?

Posted: 07 Oct 2014 09:55 AM PDT

While English is spoken in a lot of countries, surnames came about in the early middle ages, when it was only spoken in England, Wales and Scotland. (And maybe Ireland; I don't know my history well enough to know when they switched from Gaelic.)

So, it is mostly English but could be Welsh or Scots.

Question: If my ancestral ethnicity is something completely different to my nationality, what does that technically make me?

Posted: 07 Oct 2014 09:36 AM PDT

Your ancestral ethnicity is completely different to YOUR ethnicity, ethnicity means YOUR cultures YOUR customs YOUR affiliations and YOUR associations in YOUR home and the country YOU were born, raised and/or live, so the language YOU speak the food YOU eat........... each ancestor has their own ethnicity and has little to nothing to do with you ethnicity, your ancestors are your ancestors, not you even in they were born, raised, lived in the same country as you, their experiences and ethnicity will be different to your as time changes a country and experience, language, culture etc

There is no such thing as a 'british- Pakistani' nationality , you are British with Pakistani ancestry, or a dual national of Britain and Pakistan..... Britain is NOT America, know the difference between ethnicity and Nationality
