| Question: What is the significance of the War of 1812 in U.S. history? What was the significance? Posted: 01 Oct 2014 07:19 AM PDT The Americans managed to convince themselves - although they clearly lost the war - that they had in fact won,and this ushered in a period of increased patriotism and cooperation across the US known as the Era of Good Feelings. Additionally, the US moved its attention from territorial expansion northwards - as this attempt had been decisively defeated - to territorial expansion westwards, against Mexico and the Native American population. |
| Posted: 01 Oct 2014 06:53 AM PDT Fellow Catholics what is the difference between the Society of St. Pius V (SSPV) and the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX)? I know both are traditionalist Catholics which I think is good. I was raised Catholic but have departed from the one and only true faith about 4 years ago but since then I have learned about traditionalist Catholicism which I didn't know existed before until I found out on the internet. A little bit about the two: the SSPX was founded in 1970 by Marcel Lefebvre in order to fight against the heresies of the Vatican II. The SSPV was founded in 1983 by Clarence Kelly and other priests who left the SSPX. I also know about other Catholic groups such as the Congregation of Mary the Immaculate Queen (CMRI) but they tend to be closer to the SSPX because they told me since they didn't have any churches in my area I could try the SSPX. As to the two which one do you think is better and is more traditional. Which one has a better dogma, theology, and liturgy. |
