Question: Bosnian War: is it fair to blame the Serbs for the atrocities?

"According to a report compiled by the United Nations, while all sides committed war crimes during the conflict, Serbian forces were responsible for ninety per cent of them, whereas Croatian forces were responsible for six per cent, and Muslim forces for four percent. The report echoed conclusions published by a Central Intelligence Agency estimate in 1995." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_during_the_Bosnian_War

I think it's safe to assume that a lot of those crimes committed by Croats and Bosniaks were just a response to the Serbs. So, in your humble (and hopefully objective) opinion, is it okay to say that Serbs were the main culprits and perpetrators of horrendous crimes during the Bosnian war?

Question: What caused the Troubles in Northern Ireland?

Posted: 11 Oct 2014 06:15 AM PDT

Religion....

After a long campaign Ireland was given "Home rule" the Irish wanted the whole of Ireland but were given roughly three-quarters with NI being the bit where there was a majority of protestants who were pro-British. The trouble was that they dominated Northern Ireland's economy and society, meaning that the substantial Catholic minority were often discriminated against. For example many local authority jobs went to protestants and this caused antagonism as the catholic/nationalists felt they were getting a poor deal. Consequently there was a lot of friction between the two communities and this led to the British army being called in - originally to protect the catholic people.

It didn't help that the British government preferred the status quo over solving the divisions in society or making things more equitable for all NI people. When the catholic people felt that there was going to be no peaceful solution they turned to more violent means and that sparked more trouble and so things spiralled out of control with neither side wanting to budge.

Question: Did the police order George Zimmerman to stop following Trayvon Martin?

The 911 operator told him not to follow him. He agreed to wait for the police and meet them nearby. However, in spite of that, he still followed Martin and had already killed him by the time police arrived.

Question: What if the Brown vs Board of Educaation decision never happened?

The civil rights movement would've had a much tougher time ending segregation of public schools, if they could do it at all. If segregation of public schools wasn't declared unconstitutional, the government, under Eisenhower and others, wouldn't have used troops to enforce the ruling, as at Little Rock and elsewhere.
