Question: This lady came up to us and gave us an invitation saying that we are invited to the audition thing for disney channel or something so we we?

It's real. My sister had something like that once. But once she was actually accepted it costs money to get acting lessons ( a couple grand) so she couldn't do it.

This was for a pop tart commercial hehe

Question: My cousin wants to become an actress?

Unless your cousin can completely get over her problem, obviously the answer is that she can't be an actor.
Actors have to attend classes, and participate fully, for many years. They have to perform with a youth or community theatre in stage plays, with a real audience, to get loads of experience.

They have to be okay with reading plays aloud in front of many other people at read-throughs, they have to be confident enough to walk into a room with a panel of strangers, perform a monologue or a cold-read and then get judged, criticised and usually rejected. They have to rehearse in front of loads of people - and then, of course, they have to perform plays or scripts in front of live audiences or huge technical crews.

None of that is going to be possible unless your cousin can get therapy and be perfectly comfortable with speaking loudly and clearly in public.

To be honest, acting sounds like the most unlikely career possible for your cousin. At the moment, she just sees a wonderful lifestyle which she imagines is that of an actor, and dreams that she can be the same.
Real life isn't like that.

Question: Monologues for Juilliard?

Posted: 06 Oct 2014 10:10 PM PDT

There are lots of good monologues in The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night Time, which is contemporary. If you don't know what that is, it's a book about a boy called Christopher who is implied to have some kind of autistic disorder (it's never explicitly stated what he has, but he does have something), and he likes maths and computers. And one day he finds that his neighbour's dog, Wellington has been killed with a garden fork. I don't want to spoil anything else in case you read the book because it is brilliant. There's a stage production of it too, which I went to see with my LAMDA group and I think the book won some awards. Honestly, it depends on how long you need them. My friend found a good monologue called The Vicious Circle but it's for a grade 5 LAMDA exam, so you probably need something more advanced for Julliard. As for classical, perhaps you could find a good monologue in The Crucible. There's a film of it that I watched and it's depressing as hell so they examiners will like it. Plus, there's lots of strong emotion in it and Abigail would be good to do, or John. It might be worth looking on the Literary Heritige. That's all I got, sorry. And by the way, well done on getting an audition! That's one hell of an acheivement! :D :D :D :D

Question: I might be working at a haunted house soon, advice please?

1) Be careful! Many people will act drastically if you pop out at them or surprise them. Always keep a good length away so they don't hurt you.
2) Do not be tentative to scare. The experience is better if you try your hardest!
3) Always be in character! Nothing is worse than you dropping character then realizing that someone has entered.

Hope you have fun at your job! Good luck!
