| Question: Period and Dance competition!!!? Posted: 13 Mar 2015 04:47 AM PDT For tampons use the lightest absorbency possible. Change pads or tampons every 3-4 hours (even if there is no blood so as to prevent bacteria - also if there is no blood use a panty liner as your period may have stopped and if there is no blood for more than 2 days that is likely the case) and NEVER use tampons for more than 8 hours or use them overnight. And never use tampons when you don't have your period. If you have any symptoms of toxic shock syndrome (as tampons could cause that), which may include a rapid high fever, low blood pressure, a rash similar to a sunburn, vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches, confusion, seizures, and/or redness in eyes, mouth or throat, discontinue the use of tampons and see a doctor immediately. Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is very rare but it may happen. As for inserting a tampon read the instruction leaflet that goes with the box. Remember to wash your hands before inserting a tampon especially if you use the ones without an applicator. Especially as this is your first time it would be advisable to use the ones with an applicator. To insert a tampon place your thumb and middle finger on the grip and use your index finger to press the plunger in order to insert the barrel into the vagina. Only the string should be hanging out and the applicator should be out by the time you have inserted the tampon. If it is too far in or not far enough use the string to pull the tampon out and insert another one. I know what I said might be confusing but the information leaflet that goes with the box should give you instructions and tell you what you need to know. If possible ask your mother or other female relative to help. If you really can't figure out how to use tampons then stick a panty liner or a thicker pad without wings on your tights. If you are a serious dance student the sooner you get used to tampons the better. That being said you may wish to wear a pad when not dancing. This is your choice and it is up to you. And I am really hesitant to say this but..... good luck on your competition tomorrow. The reason I am hesitant to say this is because often judges look for tricks instead of proper technique and also because dance companies and colleges often reject students who have done competitions. If you are doing a competition where the judges look for proper technique, then good luck. Otherwise try to get yourself better training, or if you can't then stop dance altogether as no dance training is better than incorrect dance training as bad habits may take years to unbreak, even by the most talented teacher. Now, if you really need it...... Actually, in a reputable ballet competition, good technique (and musicality and ability to portray the character.... and 'getting hold' of the audience, from the start and just as much or even more at the end if you know what I am saying) is way more important than the word starting with 'm', so I assume you don't need luck. But if someone says it, don't say 'thank you' but say it back! :) Well, I shall still wish you good luck . In dance class (whenever you have that next) and everything else (including (but by no means limited to) the competition IF reputable and inserting a tampon). And good luck in life! :) |
