| Question: What are good audition songs? Posted: 17 Mar 2015 07:36 PM PDT You better have a good chest range because there are a lot of low notes and belting (or a good strong mixed tone) involved for that role. It's written for mezzo-soprano, but head voice will be used sparingly. If this is not a high school production or a production using just teens or children, it is highly unlike they will cast a 17 year old for the lead role. Keep this in mind. Your audition song if you really still think you've got a shot at Fanny, should be a song that sounds like the music you'd be singing if they DID cast you. The song should be similar in style and range. For example--a ballad such as "The Party's Over" from "Bells are Ringing" If they actually asked for interested actors to pick songs FROM "Funny Girl", that really should make it easy. However, don't pick from the actual musical unless they do SPECIFICALLY ask you to. Then just pick anything except "Don't Rain on My Parade" because everyone will probably do that one since it's been on Glee. |
